Should Companies Apply Digital Technologies and Tools?



In the country, there are approximately 4.2 million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which contribute around 52% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generate 72% of formal employment. However, 2020 was a watershed moment that forced some to transition to a new work model.


Digital transformation, which emerged as a necessity during the pandemic for businesses and industries, of which 80% acknowledge that without digital transformation it would be impossible for them to continue in their markets. Even due to low sales, MSMEs adopted new e-commerce models, changed their communication methods, and enhanced their interaction and contact with customers, among other changes.


Companies must evolve while adopting new digital elements to meet customer demand and add value to their products or services. It is worth noting that this evolution implies a cultural change, business strategy, and operational methods. Investing in technology gives SMEs an advantage in three aspects: customer service, faster response times, and increased operational efficiency.
